PETONE WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
WELLINGTON, this day. Melrose beat Wellington by 15 to 5. For the winners T. Spencer (2), Fordyce, W. Spencer, and Claridge, scored tries. For the losers Bon'ar scored a try, Meredith converting. Petone beat Oriental by 10 to nil. Braid scored a try and Burns potted a goal. Hawke kicked a penalty for the winners. By this win Petone win the Championship, having won nine matches. Poneke forfeited to Athletics.
