THE SESSION
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(By Telegraph — Parliamentary
Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, Friday. THE COUNCIL'S SITTING DAYS.
At the instance of the Minister of Education the Council on rising yesterday adjourned till Wednesday instead of Tuesday as usual. In so moving the Minister announced his intention of submitting a similar resolution every Friday in future, and he thought that in time the StandingOrders might be altered in the direction of making the Council's regular sitting days' three instead of four a week. Similar legislative bodies in other places did not attempt to sit the same number of days as the Lower Houses, in which the bulk of the legislative work was initiated and done. The change would, he added, enable honourable members living within a reasonable distance to have an extra day a week at their own homes, and for attending to their own business. !
