WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The following business was transacted at the Waiternata County Council after we went to press yesterday. Revenue^-The Receiver of Land Revenue wrote stating that the sum of £78 12/9 had been placed to the credit of the Council, this being the amount of "thirds" due.
Marepapa.—Messrs Phillips- Bros, wrote offering to remove the bank of earth from the drain in the Marepapa Road, to the middle of the road, to widen thedrain three feet, and to distribute the arth from the drain evenly over the road, using part of it for grading the road to the Kaituna bridge, the approaches to which are now in a dangerous condition, the Council to provide £45, half the cost. The offer was accepted. West Coast Road.—The Rodney County Council wrote, stating that they would spend £50 of their grant of £150 for the Helensville West Coast Road, between the Makarau Bridge and Kaukapakapa. The letter was received with thanks.
Okura,—Mr F. T. Redgate offered to clear the rond from his property to the main road, about 30 chains, for £2. The offer was accepted. Claim,—The owners of the scow Waipn claimed £65 15/ for repairs to the vessel, which they alleged was damaged through the Orewa swing bridge being unworkable. The County engineer stated that the bridge worked very easily. On Mi- Hatfield's motion it Was decided to' disclaim all liability in the matter.
Northcote Slaughterhouse.— The Council decided to decline Mr Elgin's application for a slaughterhouse on Captain Slattery's property at Northcote, and to inform him that the application will be re-considered if another site is selected.
Wainui Riding.—On the motion of Mr Hatfield it was decided to ask the Government for the following grants: —£200 for the Wade to Dairy Flat Road; £200 for the Upper Orewa to Parakakia Road, and £100 for the Upper Waiwera main road.
