LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION.
Mi- Arthur Edwards organising secretary, has convened a meeting, to be held this evening- in the Wesley Hall for the purpose of forming- in this city a branch of the Liberal smd Labour Federation of New Zealand. It is proposed to divide-the federation into electoral district branches, which number about forty-five, and polling1 district branches to the number, oil some 1500.. The objects generally are:—(l) To org-anise and solidify the Liberal Party in New Zealand; (2) to promote Liberal Legislation and to assist the general progress of the Liberal cause; (3) to draw up a platform; (4) when necessary to provide funds to assist the Liberal cause;. .(5) tQ arrang-e for the delivery of addresses and lectures; (6) assist the formation of clubs; (7) to afford information to members and to assist them in any way in its power; (8) to supply members with literature supporting the objects of the federation. The duties of a branch are:—(l) To generally supervise the organisation of the electorate; (2) to secure the return to Parliament of the recognised candidate; (3) to support newspapers recognised by the Council. ' '•
■ The; objects of a polling- district bx'anch are: —(l) •To enrol "as many persons as possible.as members of the Libei-al Federation of New Zealand; (2) to see that every person eligible as a member is on the register of elec* tors; (3) to promote sdciaPihtercotfrse between members and their political friends by means of entertainments, etc.; (4) to promote the interest.;of and to support the recognised candidate; (5) to equip the polling place on the day of election with . the stii 2 necessary to conserve the interest of the candidate; (6). to support the nearest recognised Liberal newspaper; (7) to establish a club or clubs in the district. .'..-..

HAMILTON, Thursday.
A meeting of. the Hamilton Branch of the Liberal League was held in the Wesleyain Schoolroom last * '-evening. Mr J. S. Bond presided. Mr A. Edwards, organising secretary, stated the. objects of the Federation, and imparted a good deal of information on the policy of the Liberal Party in New Zealand. Dr. Hosking, who was also present, gave a brief outline of his -political views, which strongly favotn the administration of the present Government. At the conclusion of the'meeting a number of new members w;ere enrolled.
