The want of confidence amendment | war- tabled on the 26th nil., and next day 1 was able, as the division lists show, to prick a card accurately giving the Government :; majority of !seven. This proves the oft-repeated assertion that lengthy speeches have no effect in influencing a single vote. lAs seventy-three members voted or paired every vote is accounted for.
