TRADE WITH AFRICA.
WELLINGTON, June 27. Mr Ballard, who has been visiting South African trading centres, thinks : There are fair prospects of opening xip trade with New Zealand.. At presentsupplies mostly go from England and America. The latter gives special attention to their requirements, and in some lines has a monopoly. New Zealand butter is finding its way in and has given satisfaction. Frozen meat is j in steady demand, but River Plate ' mutton is competing, and the pros- j j pects are not so good as tlney were. He thought the most saleable article just now would be tinned meats.
