We are given to understand that all the practical differences that have existed with regard to the supply of water from the Onehunga springs between the Auckland City Council, Onehunga Borough Council, the Manuka v Water Trust and the Railway Department have now been adjusted, and that representatives from these bodies will meet early next week to draw up the necessary legal agreements so as to enable the work to be proceeded with at once.
One of the most successful socials ever given in Avondale was the coffee supper held in the Waterview Primitive Methodist Church last evening' the object being to welcome the new arrivals to the district. The llev. J. Sharp ably filled the chair. A choice programme was submitted, songs were given by Miss Sansora, Mrs Downey, Mr Wheatley, H. Burrow; recitations by Mr Walker; and phonograph records by Mrs 11. Burrow. During the interval refreshments' were kindly supplied by Messrs Thomas Downey, Newbold, Wilson, Miss Sansom, and Mr Brokinshaw. The accompaniments were played by Mr A. J. Burrow on the piano kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Newbold.
As advertised, the Mary Hasbrouck has arrived, and will commence discharging to-morrow morning.
The manager of the biggest music shop in Melbourne has given the 'Argus' a list of the twelve songs which command the largest sale. It is as follows: "For all Eternity (Mascheronl), 'Anchored' (Watson), •Good-bye' (Tosti), 'All Souls' Day' (Lassen), 'A Summer Night' (Goring Thomas), 'The Message' (Blumenthal), 'The Holy City' (Adams), (Hervey), 'God be with You' (Elmblad), 'Home Love' (Richardsen), 'Serenade' (Gounod). 'The Link Divine' (Piecolomini). This selection may make the musical enthusiast's hair stand on end, but the public know what they want, and' all the ratings of the elect wi.l not make them buy or willingly listen to anything else.
