The sum of £4414 was put through the machines. The big event, the Hawke's Bay Hurdles, was a complete boil-over, Troubadour winning somewhat easily from his field. Mrs Donnelly was presented with the gold bracelet by Captain Russell, her Domination, Koremataku silencing 10 others very easily in the Ladies' Bracelet. He fell away, however, and Troubadour was seen coming through fast, while Clarke was also moving on Social Pest. The last hurdle in the straight proved fatal to Hussar, who came down, and Troubadour made his effort, winning by about three lengths from Straybird, Social Pest being just beaten for tlie second position, Tim and' Nor'-west being together fourth, with Tally-ho and En Avant last.
