ADDINGTON STOCK SAKE.

CHBISTCHURCH, Wednesday.

The entries, except of fat cattle, were smaller at Addington to-day than for some time past, comprising 3600 fat sheep, 1245 fat lambs, 415 cattle, 477 pigs. With the exception of 10 bullocks from the North Island, the 217 fat cattle were mostly of light to handy weight, and there was a rather sluggish sale. North Island bullocks, £9 to £9 15/; local steers, £5 to £8; heifers, £3 17/6 to £6; and cows, £3 12/6 to £5. There was a good entry of store cattle, but no business done at the auction. A few good dairy cows sold at from £6 to £8 10/. There were very few lines of freezers amongst the fat sheep, and as neither of the factories are taking sheep at present there were very few buyers, and prices were easier. Good freezers, 10/ to 10/9; unfinished wethers, 13/ to 15/. There were too many butchers' ewes for the trade, and prices were much easier. Extra prime up to 15/4; and others 10/ to 13/. Prime lambs met with keen competition at from 14/ 11 to 17/6 for freezers, and from 18/ to 24/6 for extra prime. The store sheep were a mixed lot, and only forward wethers and good young ewes in lamb were in demand. Forward wethers, 15/; good young ewes in lamb, 14/ to 14/6; and aged sorts, down to 10/6; store lambs, 9/11 to 11/4. Fat pigs were about the same as last week. Baconers, 3id to 4d; and porkers, 4Jd per lb.
