THE EDGAR INCIDENT.
CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION

LONDON, June 20
Mr Chamberlain states that a claim for compensation has been presented to the Transvaal Government on behalf of the widow of Edgar, who was shot by a Boer constable on the occasion of a, disturbance outside Edgar's house in Johannesburg.
The "St. James' Gazette" has published General Joubert's plan of campaign in the event of war in the Transvaal.
The Boer sympathisers and agents are to destroy the Cape to Buluwayo railway, Kimberley is to be raided, and the De Beer's mines destroyed.
General Joubert expects to master Capetown in a fortnight.
The Port Elizabeth-Pretoria railway is to be destroyed south of Bloemfontein.
Mr J. B. llobinson, the well-known South African mineowner, interviewed in London, said the theory was unfounded that Afrikanders and Dutch were neutral in the present troubles, and that any war would be restricted to the Transvaal. Mr llobinson cabled to President; Kruger strongly appealing to him to meet Sir Alfred Milner's views. ... :
