WAIHI BEACH.
Shares i« ibis company continue in demand on the Exchange on account of the discovery of a gold-bearing reef reported last week. Concerning this,, Mr IS. Vesey Stewart, one of the directors, reports having visited the mine For the purpose of inspecting; the new find. Its inaccessibility is shown by the fact that the men had thrown temporary bridges from projecting rocks to reach the place. Mr Stewart states there are three or four reefs all close tog-ether, each about V.l inches wide, and showing :?old visible to the naked eye on the outside of the reef. As these reefs widen out when driven upon, the miners informed Mr Stewart they would junction in from 20 to 50 feet'inland, and form into one lode 12 feet thick. Mr Stewart reports the discovery as a more important one than the Treasure Island reef, as it runs into the heart of a mountain GOO to 700 feet his?h, which will give about 50 feet of backs, lie consider; this reef alone worth all the company has been offered for the property.
