THE GAIETY COMPANY.
On Saturday evening the Gaiety. Minstrel and Specialty Company submitted a new and very attractive variety programme at the "City Hall, under Mr Dixs- management. The audience was a large and delighted one," and encores followed: most:, of the items. The songs, dances, and comic sketches were all of the best, and the Company gave a first-rate performance throughout. .Mr J. ,F. Robertson, who has a very pleasing tenor voice, made his first appearance, and was loudly encored for his singing of "Maid of Athens." He also sang "Life's Dream is O'er, Farewell," with Mr Walter . Rivers, and scored a great success. Mr Riv< vs also sang "When Britain Really Ruled the Waves," "Sons of the Sea," and other numbers, and received a great reception. The Howard Sisters contributed very graceful song and dance items, and were deservedly loudly applauded and warmly encored. . Miss Georgie Devoe, Messrs. C. Fanning, Tom Edwards/ Cartel va. and Sutton also did well in their respective contributions, and received numerous encores. • Mr A. Newton gave a clever exhibition of heavyweight lifting and other feats of Strength, and an excellent entertainment concluded with the very amusing sketch, "An Irishman's Troubles."
The Company will appear as usual all this week, and will submit further attractive changes of programme.
