ANOTHER QUEENSLAND HORROR.
BRISBANE, June 8
A horrible murder was discovered : early to-day at Wollangabba, one of ! the suburbs of Brisbane. A young j man in passing the cottage occupied |by an old woman, a widow, named : Sarah Weaber, 70 years of age, noticed ! that it was burning. He raised an ; alarm, and a number of people burst i into the house and extinguished the fire, and it was then seen that the occupant had a fearful wound behind her head from ear to ear. The fire was evidently an attempt to hide the crime. There were a number of chairs i piled on the bed, which were burning freely when the fire was discovered. The police arrived early on the scene, : but no clue was found, not even the I weapon with which the deed was j done. No motive beyond robbery is suggested. Mrs Weaber lived alone, though several relatives resided near.
