ELECTORAL NEWS.
SPEECH BY MR MASSEY.
Mr ilassey, M.H.K., addressed a meeting of his constituents in the hall, Patimiahoe, on Tuesday evening. Mr Massey said that it had been suggested to him that as he had spoken at Waiuku aiid Pukekohe last year he should speak at other places this year, and he was acting on that suggestion. In the course of his speech Mr Massey, touching on the Premier's speech in the Choral Hall, ridiculed the idea of Ministers being almost worked to death. The idea of appointing political under-secretaries was another fad; they were not needed in so small a colony as ours. He condemned the socialistic experiments of the Government. The proposed reduction of inland postage was only what he. (Mr Massey) had proposed. The Old Age Pensions Act could not possibly go en as at present, as it 'had already run up to nearly £200,000, instead of £90,000, as estimated by the Premier. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Massey for his address, and confidence in him as the representative of the district, was carried with loud applause.
