Gunner Pollock has been found guilty of the manslaughter of Gun2ier Briner, at Queenseliff Barracks, and has been sentenced to ten years
imprisonment
[The tragedy for which Pollock has been sentenced occurred on February 10 in the Qneensclift" Barracks, Melbourne, where the Victorian Permanent Artillery are stationed. On the li"lernoon of that date Gunner Briner, one of the force stationed there, said to a comrade. Gunner Pollock, in an apparently genial tone 'Go to bed.' Pollock reaching- down a carbine said Mli shoot you,' and immediately carried out his threat. The bullet passed right through Banner's breast, narrowly missing some others who were present, and Briner died soon afterwards.]
