The barque' Brussels, which some years ago loaded here for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, arrived at San Francisco, on 7th ult. from Newcastle, after a passage of 107 days—one of the longest made for years. Head winds and calms prevailed all the voyage.
Mfessrs Henderson and Spraggon have just completed extensive repairs and alterations' to the steamer Blanche. The engine has been thoroughly overhauled by Massey Bros. She is to be launched tomorrow morning, and will proceed to Russell, where her new owner intends employing her. -:«
• An inquiry was held at Lyttelton yesterday into the circumstances attending the stranding af the schooner Sir Henry at ■ Cape Farewell on January 11. The Court found that Captain Cameron had not been to blame for the accident, and returned his certificate. During the evidence it was shown that the currents about Cape Farewell were erroneously charted.
The Wellington 'Post' says: 'A private letter received by the Vancouver mail Intimates that the steamers Tainui .and Arawa, which have been under charter to the Spanish Government for the conveyance of troops from Cadiz to the Philippines, have been handed back to their owners (the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company). The same authority gives credence to the statement that the vessels were in a most unsatisfactory state, and. that it was a difficult matter to' get a proper turn out of the engines.'
