At the meeting of the Chamber of Mines held last month resolutions v*ere passed suggesting that the Government should erect three prospect-, ing batteries to assist mining. The Under-Seeretary for Mines has written to Mr G. S. Kissling, secretary to the Chamber of Mines, as follows:— 'I have the honour by direction of the Hon.
