TO PROTECT ADMIRAL DEWEY.
The Bachelors' Club .of Joplin, Missouri, has forwarded to Manila, a baseball catcher's mask and the following resolu« tion, handsomely engrossed:—
'Whereas the gallantry of the American sailor is always susceptible to the woman's charms and the tendency of woman is toward hero worship, and that Admiral Dewey is soon to visit America, where he will incur the danger of being Hobsonised, therefore be it
'Resolved: That the Bachelors' Club of Joplin, Mo., send to Admiral Dewey a baseball catcher's mask, to be worn, by him when he returns to the United States as a protection against the kissing onslaughts of the fair sex, and thus preserve the hero, of Manila to his admiring- countrymen.I—'New YorU Sun."
