AN ARCHBISHOP'S REMINDER.
The Archbishop of York, in addressing both Houses of Convocation of the Northern provinces, on February 9th, referred to the disturbed condition of the Church, and said it must be remembered also that the lawlessness was not all on one side.
A clergyman who habitually altered or omitted such portions of the baptismal service as declared or implied the regeneration of the child was as truly lawless as another who, {n order to exalt, the teaching of the Church, added to the. cele-
bration of the other Sacrament of the Lord's Supper certain ceremonies and devotions unauthorised by the Book of
Common Prayer,
The recent mass meeting in London could hardly have been supposed to have contributed much towards the elucidation or solution of the difficulties. On the other hand, the meeting of more than 200 parish priests, also in London, and tho defiant resolutions passed by .them in relation to the decisions of the bishops, excited a momentary feeling of anxiety; but this had quickly given place to mere surprise and regret that even this number of clergy could have been found to assume such an attitude.
