THE ANTI-VACCINATION CRUSADE.
PROPOSED CONFERENCE AT
BERLIN.
The 'Central News' says the National Anti-Vaccination League is making arrangements for a serious and thoroughly: organised crusade against-the system of vaccination. .
General Phelps, the President of thd League, has notified his intention of taking part in an international anti-vac- ■ eination conference which is to be held at Berlin in June for the purpose of consolidating the anti-vaccination efforts. The German. League, which has as its • main object the abolition of the system of compulsory vaccination at present in • force in Germany, is very strong, and tfie anti-vaccinators of various countries are about to co-operate. The German .Reich.stag has been petitioned on the subject, and further action in this direction ig contemplated. The National League in England is now organising, and Mr William Tebb has made.a two months' tour in America conferring with the leaders ojt the movement there. A renewed crusade is to be carried out in the United States. The Berlin Congress will be attended by delegates from America, Holland, Sweden, England, and elsewhere, One of the chief speakers will be Professor Ruata, of the Perugia University. The League will influence the putting of some important questions to the British Parliament during the session.
Mr Pickersgill will, during the coming - session, ask some important, questions of the Government with respect to the vac- v cination question, -with a view to bringing into relief the dissatisfaction which is felt, in some quarters at the ■working and results of the Vaccination. Acts. -^ •
