POLICE COURT.
At the Police Court on Thursday, before MrH.S. Wardell.S.M.,a boy named Augustus Vincent was committed for trial on a charge of stealing a suit •of clothes belonging to Hula Ruikuwal. Thomas Kennedy was sentenced to three months' hard labour for vagrancy, the other charge against him, of stealing six sticks of tobacco belonging to some unknown person, being withdrawn through lack ot evidence. A charge of vagrancy against Robert Btanton was adjourned till April 6th, Wm, Dlmery and George French were fined respectively 2/0 nnd 10/, with costs in each case', for allowing horses to wander; and George Hayman, for cycling on the footpath, was also lined 10/ arid costs, Margaret Wilkle was fined 20/ for drunkenness, and Jane Whehxri 10/, two first offenders being discharged with a caution. Two young men named. Alfred Morris and William Johnston were fined 20/ for committing a breach of the peace by using threatening behaviour In Greystreet, In the City Council v. Hayes, for an alleged breach of the building regulations. His Worship dismissed the information on the ground that the case had been previously adjudicated upon. Mr Gregory appeared for the Council, and Mr Lundon for the defence.
