LATE RACING.
AUCKLAND RACING CLUB'S AUTUMN MEETING.
The • course proper outside the hurdles was thrown open at Ellerslie this morning, when a lot of interesting work was got through. Battleaxe was sent a strong mile, having Okoari and Faugh-a-ballagh to assist over the last seven furlongs. The latter was beaten off at the finish. Battleaxe took lm 53s to compass the .mile, and he greatly pleased. Rex did just what he pleased with Hylas in a strong gallop-over seven furlongs. The first-named is in great buckle. The hurdler Cairo compassed two rounds at threequarter- pace. The well-con-ditioned Douglas and Oingo traversed about a mile, but neither were allowed to fully extend themselves. . Nor'west, Oanopus, and Bluejacket were companions together over six furlongs, the three-year-old having all the best of it at the finish. Picklock proved himself too good for Adnjiral Hawke. over a mile. St. Innis beat Merry Maid over six fiirlongs. Rosella, Hastings, and Explosiou galloped five furlongs, when the two-year-olds were pulled' off, and Explosion traversed another round alone. Coronet, Dayntree, and Eton galloped a mile, the first named having- the most to say at the. finish. Tauhei traversed two rounds at a good pace.
