ANGLICAN CHURCHES.
The customary Good Friday services were held yesterday in the Anglican Churches. At St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell, Holy Communion was celebrated at 8 ajn., followed by service at 11 a.m., the prayers being read by the Yen. Archdeacon Clarke, and the sermon preached by the Rev. George Mac Murray. At the evening service the choir sang 'The Story of the Cross.' At St. Paul's Church Mr Alloway read the lessons in the morning, and the Rev. Canon Nelson preached the sermon. His Excellency Lord Ranfurly and some members of his suite attended St. Paul's in the morning. In the evening there was a pictorial passion-tide service, and the Rev. Joseph Campbell gave an eloquent address, taking for the subject the Passion of the Saviour. Mr Mackie illustrated the address with limelight views, and suitable music was given by the choir, under the conductorship of Mr J. H. Philpot. ' At St. Matthew's Church the altar was quite bare, and the Cross covered with a black veil. Litany was said at 7 a.m., morning prayer followed at 10 a.m., the sermon being preached by the curate, the Rev. H. B. Wingfield. The three hours' service was well attended, addresses being delivered by the vicar and curate. The Rev. L. FitzGerald also preached at the evening- service. At All Saints'.Church morning prayer was said at 7.30 o'clock, and addresses were given during the day by the Rev. P. M. Aldous and the vicar. The 'Story of the Cross' was sung at each service. The Rev. J. Campbell conducted the morning service at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre yesterday, and the Rev. J. Kayll in the evening. Similar services were also held at the Epiphany Church and St. Thomas', Freeman's Bay. ..
