In the Magistrate's Court Solomon Lewis was sentenced to two months' hard labour for tote betting. The magistrate. said the case was a bad one, accused having- been convicted twice for somewhat similar offences. He had apparently, decided to continue this system of betting, and was one of those who caused such a nuisance in the.,streets-of Wellington.
