THE VERITAS.
The barque Veritas arrived yesterday afternoon from Newcastle with a cargo of coal, on discharge of which she will be dismantled and turned into a hulk for the iWestport Coal Co. Mr Roberts, first officer, reports that the vessel sailed froirr Newcastle on March 17, and met "with" ; strong north-north-east and north-east .winds until the 21st, when a heavy gale from south-east by east, accompanied by a heavy, confused sea, was encountered, lasting for 24 hours. Light north-west to west winds prevailed until the 26th, followed by easterly winds to making the New Zealand coast; thence westerly and ■outherly. -winds to arrival. .
