The prices realised for fruit this week show improvement, and that the market will most probably continue firmer may be gathered from, the fact that enquiries have, been made, by cable from Sydney for Auckland fruit, owing to London buyers being- on that 'market and paying the highest prices yet known there for fruit. There is also' a demand for fruit for Sydney xind Victoria. At present Tasmanian values are: Apples, 5s to 7s 6d case; raspberry pulp, £60 per ton, c.i.f. At 'the present time there 'is, an unlimited demand in Tasmania for raspberries at r>d per lb. Messrs Tooman and Co., auctioneers, had enquiry by ca.ble for ten tons of ! plums, both dark and light. A proclamation notifies that after August 10 the name of the Borough of Newton will be altered to Grey Lynn. The Warrimoo bought13">0 Virginian quail for the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, and Columbian salmon ■ova consigned to the Minister for Marine. The missing seaman from the ship Ochtertyre has made liis whereabouts known,'having reached here safely. Argument has been concluded in the Validation Court, on the motion to remove Messrs Carroll and Wi Pere from the trusteeship of the Native Trust Estate. The judge reserved his decision. A Supplementary Gazette notifies that the Urewera Commissioners will sit at Rnatoki this week, and afterwards at Waimana, Te Ileiahi, Te Whaiti, Ruatahuna, Mauugapohatu, and Te Waimako, to inquire as to what people are entitled to lands within the boundaries described in the Urewera District Native Reserve Act, 1896. , _,_„, ...
