A BOY DROWNED.

NELSON, Tuesday;
The Takaka correspondent of the 'Colonist' telegraphs that a sad drowning accident and plucky attempt a* rescue occurred yesterday afternoon. All the rivers were in high flood, alia several boys were playing on tin* bank of the Takaka River, picking out driftwood, when a nine-year-old sou cf Mrs Moulder, of Rotoiti, overbalaneeu himself and fell into the river' which, at the spot, resembled a millrace. A mate of his, Charles JacoDsen, aged 12, immediately jumped into the rushing flood, and catching hola cf young. Moulder, the two-were swept down together. Jacobsen managed to grasp a willow tree,vi«iu; hold his drowning mate for a time, but eventually the current paite<* them, and Jacobsen had to stmgg^ ashore aione. The body of Moulder has not been recovered. Jacobsen* pluck is much admired. .>_—J
