A LONG SEA TOW.
The fine four-masted iron barque Falls of Garry arrived at Sydney from Noumea on February 1, in tow of the steamer La Pe-rouse. The vessel was stranded a year ago on the coast of New Caledonia, She was abandoned as a hopeless wreck, there being no facilities available for floating her, and was sold to a Noumea buyer, who negotiated with Messrs Sheehy and Sons of Sydney to salvage her. In that they were successful, and the French steamer La Perouse brought her up to Sydney, 1058 nautical miles, in Lh. excellent time of nine days. The ship will be docked and repaired here, and again be placed in the general trade. She had 1000 tons of nickel ore on board at the time she ran on the reef. The crew landed after exhausting every means to get her off, and it was only by the appliances dent from Sydney that the Falls of Garry Avas not left to be eaten away piecemeal by the breakers in the same way that a score of ships have been on the coral bound coast of the French, colon}.
