DRUIDS' GRAND LODGE

At the meeting of the District Grand Lodge of Druids yesterday the report and balance sheet of the Board of Management and the auditors' report were adopted. The balance sheet showed that the sum of £500 had been j added to the fund during' the year, I and that 157 members had been added |to the roll. The roll of the District ] Grand Lodge now stands at 1600, and the fund at £1700. -It was resolved ■•'That as the district has now been ■ four years in existence the. first quinquennial valuation be obtained before the next Grand Lodge meeting.' liecommendations^ from the two Auckland lodges that the initiation fees be reduced and brought more into line with the fees of other societies were considered, but it was pointed out that ever with the high fees the progress of the Druid Order had been phenomenal, and the delegates saw no reason for reducing the fees. The District Grand Lodge of Druids resumed sittings to-day. President Jas. Burned presiding. Th discussion on amendments to the laws was resumed. A motion from Pacific. Lodge (Wellington), that in future all Grand Lodge.officers shall be nominated by lodges in the district, and elected by ihe representatives at the annual meeting, was carried by one vole. The two delegates representing Am k land lodges Were present. The D.G.L. Executive was authorised to proem c tour sets "of funeral colours. A. scheme, brought forward by the D.G.P. for relieving members in distress was postponed tor twelve months, the D.G.S. in (he meantime to obtain an expression Of opinion es to how many members would be likely to support the scheme, it being optional. It was resolved the next annual meeting be hold at Gisborne. lib- afternoon the (band Looge officers were elected and installed, Bro. A. 11. Thompson, of Blenheim Lodge being installed D.G.P. The D/mds of Auckland give a smoke concert to the Grand Lodge and visitors in the Cook-street Hall to-night.
