ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.
Enquirer (Waihi).—Webster's gives once a fortnight as ihe only meaning of bi-weekly, whereas Chambers' dictionary says that while the strict meaning is once, a fortnight, the word is commonly used to signify twice a week. Both the dictionaries we have quoted give thrice a week as the meaning of tri-weekly. In its application to the issue of newspapers in this colony, bi-weekly invariably means twice a week.
Elocutionary Contests.—We have received several letters relative to the judging in the elocutionary competitions, but do not think any good purpose would be served by their publication. It is very rarely that all parties are satisfied with the judging in competitions of this kind.
