ARRIVAL OF AN ITALIAN WARSHIP.
The Italian warship Etna, on a cruise round the world, arrived on Saturday afternoon from Suva, anchoring in the man-o'-war ground. Leaving Italy, the Etna visited Spain and the Madeiras, proceeding thence tilong the east coast of South America through the Straits of Magellan to San Francisco, arriving in November last. After docking, she went to Honolulu, remaining in port until 10th January, when she left for Apia. After a short stay there, the Etna went on to Levuka and Suva, arriving at the latter port on January 23. She left for Auckland on the 28th, and had fine weather to arrival here at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. She leaves for Sydney about the end of the week. The Etna was built at Castellan, Italy, in 1885. She is a first class cruiser of 285 ft length, 43.5 ft beam, and 19.2 ft depth. She is of 3500 tons register, and has a speed of 17?. knots per hour. She has two sets of engines, and two yellow smoke-stacks, with well amidships. Her two turreted masts are provided with rapid firing gunS. She has a protected deck, and her armament consists of two lOin guns, six Gin guns, five Nordenfeldt rapid-firing guns, and four Hotchkiss rapid-firing guns. The Etna has a complement of 320 officers and men. The following is a list of her officers:—Capitano di Vajcello, Cavallare Giovanni Giovello, commander; Capitano di Corvetta, Cavallare Stanislav Lorelchio, second in command; Frank Angelo, first lieutenant; Guglielmo "Giamelli, second lieutenant; Ernesto Di Loreto, third lieutenant; Giuseppe Monrey, fourth lieutenant, and Guido Scelsi, fifth lieutenant; Ettore Goltelleti and Frederico Cajtraeane, sublieutenants; Lorenjo Gandolofo, ' Domenico Visco, Gaetani Pejce, Francesco Paggi, and Francesco De ] Orestis, midshipmen; Gaetano Montaldo, chief engineer; Giuseppe Penjo, second engineer; Raffaele Pajtena, third engineer; Eugenio Verregnassi, fourth engineer; Angelo Caforio, surgeon; Cavallare Luigi Tommetli, paymaster.
