XV., AND AUCKLAND XI. The matches in the first draw of the second round o. the Cricket Cham- ! pionships were concluded on Saturday afternoon, A.l\e. match between Gor- > don unci Auckland XV. at the Domain I resulted in a win for Auckland by IS runs on the first innings. United suci feeding in defeating Parnell on the first innings by 80 runs. For the winners Brown (44 not out) and D. Hay (37) i batted splendidly, the former giving only one chance. At Devonport Auck- ! land XL scored a rather unexpected victory over North Shore. A presentation was made at the Domain on Saturday afternoon by the United C.C. to Mr VV. B. Pillenger, who has for a long while past, in spite of indifferent health, acted as scorer and I umpire for the club, in presenting a framed picture of the members of the fii-st eleven in appreciation ot! My Pillenger's services to the club during past seasons, Mr A. E. Dunningham (the secretary) said he knew he was only voicing the wishes of all when he hoped that the recipient might enjoy better health, and be long spared to vender that assistance which was so greatly appreciated by the club, and that in looking upon the picture in future years, lie would be reminded of the 'good old days' spent among the United players. Mr Pillenger responded suitably. The scores in the various matches are as follows: — GORDON V. AUCKLAND XV. j GORDON, first innings 140 AUCKLAND. —First Innings. A. Selby, b Kallender 9 jR.
