DUNEDIN, this day.

The weather is superb, and gives a promise of continuing so, in which case the going should be fairly fast, both on the track and the grass. There are forty-seven competitors from all parts of New Zealand. So far as can be judged, the banner lies between Auckland and Dunedin teams, local circumstances favouring the latter. The 'Star. anticipates that Dunedin will score 59 points, Auckland 51, Canterbury 32, Napier 4, South Canterbury 2, and Wanganui 1 point. It gives the two walks to Wilson (Auckland), the 250 yards and 440 yards flat to Kingston (Dunedin), the mile flat to Penticost (Canterbury), the three mile flat to Bennett (Dunedin), the high and long- jumps to Brownlee (Dunedin), the 120 yards hurdles and 100 yards flat to Smith (Auckland), the half-mile to Garsia (Canterbury), and the weight putting and hammer throwing to Madill (Auckland). The following is the time-table of events: —

2 p.m., hammer throwing. 2.20 p.m., 100 yards (heats). 2.30 p.m., half-mile flat. 2.35 p.m., 100 yards (final). 2.40 p.m., one mile walk. 2.50 p.m., 120 yards hurdles (heats). 2.55 p.m., pole jump. 3.10 p.m., 120 yards hurdles (final). 3.15 p.m., one mile flat. 3.25 p.m., high jump. 3.55 p.m., three mile walk. 4.20 p.m., 250 yards (final). 4.25 p.m., long jump. 4.45 p.m., three mile flat. 5.5 p.m., Quarter mile flat. 5.10 p.m., Putting the weight. 5.25 p.m., Quarter mile hurdles. Mr W. J. Burke, an ex-distance champion, will be starter.
