THE FISH TRADE.

COOL RAILWAY STORAGE.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, this day.

The Railway Department has agreed to place cool cars on the line for the conveyance of fish from Napier, as it is found the insulated cars allow their contents to deteriorate. The Minister has also promised to see if the charge for returned empties can be reduced. Mr .Cranby, representative of the Napier Trawling- Co., assures the Minister that they had no intention of raising prices, but merely wished to regulate them. They intended in future to sell fish here by weight, about Is 6d for four pounds of soles and flounders, or double that quantity of schnapper, moki, etc.
