ILLICIT STILL CASE.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

REEFTON. Thursday

In connection with the recent illicit still case here there is a strong feeling against the persons who gave information to the authorities. Lt is felt that Jennens, who is a respectable man, 52 years old, and a native of Nelson, was entrapped. At the trial of Jackson on Monday it was asserted that the latter engaged him while he (Jennens) was under the influence of drink, under a false name. Public opinion is so excited that a petition to the Minister for Justice to release Jennens is being numerously signed, not one person refusing.
