PARIS, February 2. M. Beaurepaire stumps the country in support of his petition that the Dreyfus enquiry be recommenced, the * criminal section of the Court of Cassation not participating-. M. Charavey. the writing expert who testified' that the famous bordereau was in Dreyfus' handwriting, has now given evidence that the writing- was" doubtful. He must reexamine the document. M. Mazean's report says that threats to murder the judges of the Criminal Court led to M. Loew appoint jng Bard as reporter to the Court. The latter was unmarJ ried, and if, murdered fewer persons •■ would be bereaved. M. Jean Cruppe, member for Toulouse, and secretary of the Chamber of Deputies Committee on M. Lebret's Bill, has prepared an amendment obliging the Court of Cassation itself to decide the innocence or guilt of

Dreyfus. The Premier and a majority of the Cabinet favour this amendment, but M. Lebret declines to accept it. AI. Beaurepaire declares that the Criminal Chamber of the Court, before

learing M. Bard's report or examining .the dossiers, resolved to pronounce JDreyfus innocent.

Beaurepaire and others are conspiring to sap the stability of French institutions and are eager for the resignation of the memhers of the Criminal Chamber and the annihilation of the inquiry, thus savin? a grateful army. The. ultimate object of this move, M. Blowitz says, 1b unknown.
