ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council was held last evening, when there were present: — Dr. Erson (Mayor), Messrs Laking, Bradley, Hill, Shaldrick, Stoupe, Colledge, Rowe and Fleming.
The Labour Question. —Mr Shaldrick moved and Mr Fleming seconded pro. forma (l). That the matter of the appointment of the employees of the Council be considered and their duties remunration, and hours be defined; (2) That the Council be a committee to consider the same and report at the next meting. The resolution was carried, Mr Laking alone voting against it.
Cemetery By-laws.—The Council adopted the new cemetery by-laws, and the Mayor announced that the same will come into operation on the 20th inst., on which date the cemetery wil be open for burials.
Grazing Fees.-—A letter was received from Mr W. Bray asking the Council to reduce the fees for grazing draught horses, constantly employed, on the Mount Smart reserve, from £1 per annum to 12/.'The letter was referred to the Council in Committee to consider.
Finance.—The Treasurer read his usual statement which showed a debit balance of £89 16/9 in the general account, all the other accounts being in credit^
Water Quest.ion.At the close of the meeting the Council went into committee on the water question.
