Burgess, prior to his arrest it is alleged told a mimber of settlers that he knew the Mtirphys well: the girls got what they deserved, and the elder one was a great flirt. Another man has been arrested ' at, Bundeberg disguised as a swag-man. He behaved suspiciously, and denied, but subsequently admitted, the ownership of a revolver hidden in a tank.
