WRITING IN SCHOOLS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l was pleased to notice in your report of the last meeting of the Board of Education that it was the intention of the Board to ascertain the opinion of business men regarding their choice in certain styles of penmanship. The pronounced difference lies between Chambers' and Whitcomb's copy books on the one hand and the vertical writing of Philips and others on the other. In coming to a determination it would be desirable to settle the matter by a selection of copy books, as it is by these that the writing in the public schools is guid-ed.-I am, etc., pBN _
