'_ SYDNEY, August 31. Mr Peid, in a full House, moved the federation resolutions in a speech which was a masterly review of the federation movement from its inception, ancl an amplification of the arguments in favocvr of the amendments embodied in the resolutions. He claimed that New South Wales had the best claims to the federal capital, because she had the largest, population, ancl would have to contribute most to the federal revenue. He was prepared, on behalf of New South Wales, to mrJ.e sacrifices to obtain federation. The diseussi-on was adjourned until Wednesday.
