CYCLING.
Mr E. G. Skeates, Secretary of the newly-formed Pioneer Cycling Club, received a telegram from Christchurch today, stating- "that the League of New Zealand Wheelmen had granted the Club's application for affiliation. Owing, however, to the name clashing with that ef the Pioneer Bicycle Club (Christchurch) which has lately joined the League, the Auckland Club has been affiliated under the name of the Waitemata Cycling Club. This name has been chosen by the Secretary to facilitate the affiliation, but it has not been definitely fixed upon as the permanent title of the Club.
