PUBLIC BATTERY FOR WAITEKAURI.
(Prom Our Own CoaTespon.den.t-.)
A meeting- was held in the Waitekauri Hall on Friday night last to discuss the ways and means of obtaining* a pxiblic crushing- plant for the Waitekauri district. The meeting- was strongly and unanimously of opinion that such a plant Was an absolute necessity in Waitekauri where there are numerous small lodes with rich patches of ore not of sufficient size or extent to pay large companies to erect costly plants, but which would pay well when worked by small parties of men, and the ore treated at a public battery. Taking the nature of the district into consideration there is little doubt that such a battery would be of immense benefit, and would also it is believed be a financial success. Sooner or later such a plant nrust be erected in the district/ A petition is now being signed for presentation to the Minister of Mines setting forth particularly the necessity for a public crushing plant, and asking for an allocation this session.
