STRANGE EXPLOSION
A MINER SERIOUSLY INJURED.
Information has been received of a peculiar dynamite explosion at the Wolfram claim at Riverview, New South Wales. John Martin and Alex. Lloyd, miners, intended putting in a charge, and the latter put an iron can on the forge for the purpose of heating water for the purpose of warming the dynamite to blast with. Some of the explosive had previously been warmea in the same water Directly the water became warm an explosion occurred. It is surmised that the water contained an accumulation of nitro-glycerine from previous contact with dynamite. In the explosion, Lloyd received painful and serious injuries A piece of the can penetrated his left arm to the bone. A link ,of his watch chain was blown into his right arm, and two wounds were caused in the abdomen. Another link of his chain was blown through the watch which he was wearing, and he was otherwise bruised and scratched all over the body. The /orge was blown to pieces. Martin was uninjured. . . : .
