MISS ADA REEVE.
SUING FOR DIVORCE
MELBOURNE, July 11
Miss Ada Reeve, who has just closed a season in Sydney in 'The French Maid,' and who has so often figured in the 'Gay Parisienne' as a successful stage plaintiff in a breach of promise case, has made her appearance in real life in the role of petitioner for a divorce against her husband, Mr Bert Gilbert. In the petition tiled the petitioner describes herself as Adelaide Hazlewood, professionally known as Ada Reeve, of 161 Spring-street, Melbourne, actress, and states that on May sth, 1894, she was married to respondent, Gilbert Joseph Hazlewood, professionally known as Bert Gilbert, actor, at the office of the Registrar of Marriages, in the county of Nottingham, England. She was born in London, and is now 24 years of age, and respondent was born at Wolverhampton, and is now 25 years of age. Petitioner makes a number of allegations against her husband, and applies for a divorce and for the custody of the two children of the marriage, namely, Bessie Adelaide Hazlewood, aged 3 years, born at Wolverharnpton,. and Lilian Mary, aged 1 year, born at London. Miss Reeve also asks for ari order under section 88 of the Marriage Act of 1890, Avhich gives power to the court to order monthly or weekly payments by husband to his wife on dissolution of marriage. It is stated a copy of the petition and citation was served on Mr Gilbert in Pitt-street, Sydney, on Thursday.
