DEVONPORT BOWLING CLUB.
The third annual meeting of the Devonport Bowling Club was held on Thursday last at the Borough Council Chambers, Devonport, there being a large attendance. M. McNiccol (president) presided. The annualreporfc stated that the roll of membership had increased from 24 to 38, aad that a number of gentlemen had promised to join the Club for the coming season. Through the courtesy of Mr W. J. Napier the $lub had been registered under the Unclassified Societies Registration Act. The matches for the Club trophies were keenly contested, with the following results :—Champion Cup (Skeats) won by W. J. Harrison ; Handicap Single (Kohn Medal), W. J. Harrison; Handicap Singles (Eastarn's bowls) won \>y M. M. McCallum ; pairs (A. Harvey and M. Nicol trophies), F. S. Malcolm and W. J. Harrison; Handicap Singles (J. Dinsdale's trophy); M. McCallum; first year players (M. McCallum's trophy) Avon by Mr J. Wig. The season had been a particularly successful one. In the inter-club matches played Devonport had held its own. The .€lub had also upheld the district at the Napier Champion Tournament, the champion rink beingonly one pointbehind the winners. The Auckland Bowling Association's Challenge Buckles Avere held by members of the Club (M. McCallum and R. Eagleton), aud out of five matches for open competion Devonport- annexed, three. The Treasurer reported the year's receipts as £91 14s Bd. The following officers were elected :Mr A. Harvey, president; W. J. Harrison and W. Philcox, vice-presidents ; committee, Capt. Best, M. G. W. Brookes, T. Stewart, F. S. Malcolm; treasurer, J. Dinsdale ; auditor, F. S. Malcolm; hon. se'c.,'R. Eagleton. A very pleasant evening was brought to a close by passing a hearty vote of thanks to the dormers of prizes and the outgoing committee and especially to W. J. Harrison, the green superintendent.
