A GOVERNMENT CAUCUS. STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Government Caucus held this forenoon lasted two hours. From an official report by the Premier I learn that fortyone members were present or accounted for, and that the greatest unanimity prevailed. At the outset the Premier strongly impressed on his supporters the advisability of pushing on the practical work of the session, and said that if the progress business was obstructed or • prevented the responsibility must rest with those blocking it. jNto formal resolutions were passed, but a strong1 wish was expressed, that the Old Age Pension Bill should, become law tills session, and that the Local Government Reform Bill should take a prominent position. With respect to the Technical Education Bill, the. Premier referred to his recess addresses, and intimated that this measure would provide I'or education boards having power of negativing1 the establishment of technical schools where such were already established by boards. It was unanimously decided that members of the party should not give pairs unless through whips. The Premier, in conclusion, expressed pleasure that the Liberal Party was never more united or stronger than at present, and said that, as caucuses were beneficial, lie intended to ask the party to meet ministers every Monday. Mr McNab has taken his seat between Messrs Smith and Taylor, thus identifying" himself with the antiliquor party. He has attended a Ministerial caucus
