RAILWAY CONCESSIONS.
CONFLICTING INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS.
LONDON, June 2G.
Reuters Pelcin correspondent states that a difficulty has arisen in connection with the negotiations between the French and Belgian Ambassadors and the Chinese Government for the right to construct a railway connecting Pekin with Lankan in the Yang-t'Se-Kiarig Valley. China refuses to concede the Belgian demands, urging that if yielded it would place the great, trunk line under the influence of France and Russia, v result which would be inimical to Great Britain.
WASHINGTON, June 25
The United States consul at Chefoo advises the authorities here that Germany has claimed exclusive railway rights in Shantung, and also demands the diversion of the railway from Tientsin to Shanghai.
SHANGHAI, June 2G
M. Pavloff, the Russian Ambassador in Pekin, ir, his recent protest against the Hongkong-Shanghai Bank loan to the Chinese Government for railway extension, declared that the loan must not be granted under any circumstances.
