CALENDAR OF GARDEN OPERATIONS, JUNE 11.
TO CORRESPONDENTS.
Raising Apples. Pears, and Plum Trees from Seed (Beginner).—Of course, all or the above can be raised from seed, but you might have to raise some thousands before you would obtain one variety that was any good. Your best plan Is to obtain one or iwo year old. grafted trees from some reliable nurseryman, and he will give you good varieties to begin with. As your knowledge advances you might raise mocks from,' seed or cuttings, and bud and graft on your own account. I could not advise you to plant an orchard v.-ith trees raised from seed, for it would to a certainty end in failure us not one of the troes might produce frull that would be usable.
