Captain Causdell. of Sydney, has lodged with the War Office a steel folding shovel shield, the invention of Colonel Howe, of Sydney, the engineer of the Forces. The shields are for the j use of infantry. They are very light, j When Jn action they are planted in , the ground, and the men lie down I behind them and fire tiyniugh loopI holes. Trials will be made during the 1 summer.
