An American force which attempted to laud at Aquadores, a small port iv Utba. was repulsed by the Spanish land forces.
The -\'ew York 'Herald 1 in its account of the engagement at Santiago states that Admiral Sampson's squadron sank a Spanish torpedo boat, supposed to be the Terror, while the latter was attempting to enter Santiago harbour on Monday night, [The Terror is a vessel of :iSO tons, and 28 knots steaming- power. She is one of the three Spanish torpedo-boat destroyers Furor, Terror and Plnton, and her destruction would be a heavy loss to Admiral Cerveras' fleet.
